Here’s the first two paragraphs of the story, from Oregon’s Hillsburu Argus:
For her 100th birthday, Barbara Peck got that teaching certificate she’d wanted when she graduated from Oregon Agricultural College (now Oregon State University) back in 1932.
Because she’d married her sweetheart, Norton Peck, in 1931, she and other married women weren’t allowed to teach in those days.
Now that is what I’m talking about! Let this story be a little reminder that becoming a teacher is so Cool/Good that somebody put it on their Bucket List.
[as a TOTAL aside, I did a Google image search for "old teacher" to try to find a picture for this post. What results came up? A bunch of nasty, nasty porn. But I did find this picture, which I think is pretty funny: The only picture of an old teacher on the Internet.]
